Print a Business Check Online for Free

Fill in the form below to create a printable US business check, then print it on plain paper or blank check stock. There is no signup, no software to install, and no fee. Your check details stay in your browser and are never sent to our servers.

What you need

  • The routing number and account number for a US checking account.
  • Plain paper or blank check stock.
  • An inkjet or laser printer that can print at 100% scale.
  • A pen, because every check has to be signed by hand.

How the check is formatted

The check renders at standard US business check dimensions, and the MICR line along the bottom is placed using the position numbering US banks expect. The MICR characters print as individual images rather than a font, so the line lands in the same place on every browser and printer. After you print and sign it, the check fits a standard #8 check envelope.

Banks differ in what they accept. Confirm with your bank before you rely on a new template, paper stock, or printer setup for anything time sensitive.

Plain paper or check stock

Plain paper works for the occasional check. Blank check stock costs more and gives you security features and a more finished result. The tradeoffs are covered in plain paper vs check stock.

Before you print

  • Set your printer to 100% scale. Turn off "fit to page" and "shrink to fit", which move the MICR line out of position.
  • Re-read the routing and account numbers against your bank statement.
  • Confirm the payee, date, and amount.
  • Sign the printed check by hand.
  • Record the check in a register. There is a free check register template you can download.

Your information stays in your browser

The check is built on your own computer. Your check details are never sent to our servers, and your bank account number is never saved anywhere, so you re-enter it each time you print. The privacy page explains what the site does and does not keep.

This tool needs a wide window

A check is a wide document, and the form lays it out at close to full size, so the tool needs a browser window around 1,180 pixels wide or more. On a phone, or in a narrow window on a desktop, the form is hidden and you will see a note asking for more width. Come back on a laptop or desktop, or widen the window, and the form appears.
